When members receive a ticket, they follow these steps:
- Make a copy of front and back of the ticket to keep.
- Write an explanation (nothing fancy) of exactly what happened.
- Via guaranteed delivery, send ATLA the original ticket, explanation and money required. Check with us at 1-800-525-4285 if you are not sure about money amounts.
- Unless the court date is immediate, telephone ATLA 3 days after mailing it.
- If court date is immediate, fax the ticket and explanation to 253-565-6141. This is the exception – not routine. Call before faxing, and after, to be sure everything was received.
Please do not use regular mail. Documents get lost. Overnight mail and 3-day priority mail (with a delivery confirmation receipt) can be done from the post office. Federal Express, Airborne Express and UPS also work, but are more costly.
